Today, 2 years after the legendary Indonesian musician Chrisye passed away, I would like to look back on his life and career by writing about 2 wonderful products, the Chrisye Masterpiece Trilogy and the book Chrisye, sebuah memoar musikal. I would also like to point you to the song Telah pergi sahabat tercinta, a cover that I published exactly one year ago in memory of Chrisye.
The Chrisye Masterpiece Trilogy is an impressive music CD collection. It consists of 3 luxury boxes, each box containing 7 CDs and a booklet with information about the songs and the musicians. The CDs cover over 25 years of the works of Chrisye, starting in 1978 with Sabda Alam. The last CD is Senyawa, made in 2004.
I am one of the lucky people that is in possession of this true collectors item. I started listening to the CDs in chronological order. It appeared to become not only a fascinating musical experience, but also a travel through time, where each CD reflects the atmosphere of the year it was produced.
The book Chrisye, sebuah memoar musikal is a luxury hard cover edition with an in-depth description of Chrisye’s life. It is written by Albertiene Endah who frequently interviewed Chrisye during his illness. In the book Chrisye is very open about his life, his family, his friends and about music. It contains beautiful photographs as well. It is a must-read for all Chrisye fans.
Today a new Facebook page was published, entirely dedicated to Chrisye. The page is created and maintained by Chrisye’s family, it shows lots of interesting facts and photos. If you are interested in buying the Trilogy or the book (both highly recommended) you will find all information how to order there.
