nlpeter live in Tangerang at Pelita Harapan University

I gave my first live performance in Indonesia on 22nd of october 2008 at the “Remembering Chrisye” event at Pelita Harapan University, Tangerang (about half an hour drive from Jakarta). The sons of Chrisye, Pasha and Masha, took part in the event as well. It was a happy coincidence that I was in Jakarta exactly in the week that this event was taking place, and it was a great pleasure for me to play there. The lovely audience made this into an unforgettable experience to me. Watch the video and you’ll see wat I mean.



There were six performances (mine included) of Chrisye songs: Kisah Cintaku, Cintaku, Zamrud Khatulistiwa, Anak Jalanan, Kala Surya Tenggelam and Sendiri Lagi.

Below is the announcement of my performance as it appeared in the program leaflet:

“Sendiri Lagi yang diciptakan oleh Ryan Kyoto untuk Chrisye pada tahun 1993, akan dibawakan oleh salah satu fans dari Chrisye pada tribute berformat mini-concert siang ini. Ada cerita menarik dibalik performance dari pria bernama Peter asal negeri Belanda ini. Sewaktu tim kami mengundang istri alm. Chrisye, Damayanti Noor, beliau memberitahu kepada Peter, yang kebetulan sedang di Indonesia, tentang acara kampus ini. Lalu Masha, anak dari Chrisye mengusulkan beliau untuk ikut tampil di dalamnya. Setelah kami hubungi, Peter, yang sering meng-upload videonya di Youtube membawakan lagu-lagu Indonesia, bersedia untuk berpartisipasi. Ini merupakan suatu kehormatan bagi kami.”

    Sebagai orang indonesia, saya malu pada diriku sendiri melihat kehebatan anda melantunkan lagu-lagu indonesia, tapi saya bangga sebagai bangsa indonesia karena ternyata indonesia bukan hanya sebuah cerita bagi negara lain tapi sebuah kenyataan.
